Navigating and Formatting: Features, Tips, Tricks and Hacks

To many of us (im)migrating to BookLikes from elsewhere, finding our way around this site, learning to use its functions and formatting content takes a bit of getting used to. BookLikes operates basically like a blog with added features for interaction, so especially if you have a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, you can actually do more here than on other social networks such as Goodreads and Facebook. The daunting thing, however, is that if you're less familiar with coding and webdesign, you're either stuck with the few, as-yet comparatively unattractive standard settings offered by BookLikes ... or you'll have to venture into the wild, wild world of webdesign and learn your ropes as you go.

In light of this, a number of folks have put together some truly awesome tutorials to help us all along – I thought instead of just reblogging them I might as well also collect the corresponding links in one place for ease of reference. Please do remember to give credit to the authors if you reblog any of them (and FWIW, only a tiny minority 'em are actually at least partly by me; for the most part I'm just trying to help spread the word). I started with the tutorials listed in this masterpost on customizing BookLikes and added further tutorials created before that or in the interim.
